Rockin' the barn till late!
'On the Edge' Will be continuing into the night, with some of our favourite local bands rocking the barn till late!
The ‘Best of the Best’ - film in a truly iconic Lake District setting!
Films are the beating heart during Kendal Mountain Festival and it will be no different at ‘On the Edge’ where we will delve into our extensive back catalogue and screen our all-time favourites plus add in a few new surprises!
With all day screenings of some of the most celebrated outdoor films and mini, pop-up outdoor cinema tents showing brilliant short films, it’s going to be great! Full film lists to follow.

Kendal Mountain Festival - the UK’s largest and most diverse Mountain Film festival, is delighted to introduce its new, two-day summer event - Kendal Mountain Festival 'On the Edge', reflecting everything that people associate with Kendal Mountain Festival – brilliant films, inspirational speakers and a great social atmosphere - in a truly inspiration, summer, outdoor setting!

The event is being held at Sticklebarn Tavern and on the surrounding field, in the heart of the Langdales.
The Langdale valley is accessible by road but we ask drivers to be cautious on the country roads. Parking is available in the valley but will be limited. To ease congestion and save on CO2, there are bus services available hourly from Ambleside. There is also the ‘golakes Travel Liftshare’ site that can help you find your perfect car sharing companion in order to get to the event easier.
Places to Stay
Why not make a weekend of it and soak in the Lake District air.
Accommodation includes the great Langdale campsite run by our friends at the National Trust. There are also hotels and bunk barns up the valley. If you are struggling for something local then Ambleside hosts many B&B's just a bus ride away.
Food and Drink
The Sticklebarn Tavern run by our friends at the National Trust will be putting on a spread serving great food and drink all weekend long.

Day passes are valid for all Speaker, Film and Workshop events from 9am-6pm both days. Evening entertainment is separate and free. Not all events will hold full capacity and these will operate on a first come basis.

Stickle Ghyll hydropower project
A 1 hr (approx) ‘walk and talk’ to see the on-going construction of a 100KW hydropower scheme at Stickle Ghyll. The project is one of a number that the National Trust are developing to try and deliver its aspiration to generate 50% of its entire energy needs from renewable energy. Kendal Mountain Festival goes ‘On The Edge’.
In partnership with the National Trust, Kendal Mountain Festival will head to the outdoors to make use of the iconic Sticklebarn Tavern over two days in the spectacular setting of the Langdale valley, the heart of the Lake District.
This year’s 'Kendal Mountain Festival On The Edge’ event will explore the concept that ‘Technology Can Enhance Your Wilderness Experiences’. With an outstanding programme of guest speakers with displays and talks from leading outdoor brands, showcasing the exciting development of technology in the outdoors, plus continuous film screenings, live music and great food, it will be a perfect mix of time in the outdoors and the sharing of ideas with like-minded people!
